If your policy includes an excess, this is usually the amount you are required to pay before your insurer starts contributing towards the cost of treatment. The excess is set by your insurance provider and is usually payable once per policy year (though this can vary depending on your plan).
For example, if your excess is £100, you would need to cover the first £100 of treatment costs yourself. After this has been met, eligible physiotherapy sessions can then be claimed from your insurer in line with your policy terms.
If you’re unsure of your excess amount or whether it has already been met/paid, it’s best to check directly with your private health insurance provider, as they can confirm this for you.
